Use of Affiliate Links
This disclosure lets you know that I am using affiliate links. I get a commission on purchases made through these links. If you want to learn more, scroll down past the list of retailers.
Retail Links
Affiliate Programs
Many bloggers use income from affiliate links to fund their blogs and internet services. One of the best things about affiliate links is that they provide bloggers with some income for their efforts without imposing any financial burden on their readers.
What is your cost for using my affiliate links? ONE CLICK. ZERO DOLLARS.
Here’s how it works
- A Blogger or page owner, like myself, starts by joining an affiliate program at a retail website. Each Affiliate Associate gets a unique ID code that is placed in her affiliate links, so the retailer can track purchases made through that Associate’s links.
- The Blogger/Associate places these affiliate links on her blog posts and webpages that link to the retailer’s pages and products.
- When the blog reader clicks on the Associate’s affiliate links and purchases a product from the retailer, the retailer pays the Associate a commission for referring the business, usually a small percentage of the purchase price.
Using affiliate links to purchase your products does not increase your cost.
-
At least not directly. If a retailer offers an affiliate program, the cost of affiliate comissions are factored into the pricing structure, so you’ll be paying the equivalent of an affiliate comission, whether or not it is paid to somebody like me.
Your personal information is secure and is not available to affiliates!
- Affiliate reports include the product, the date of purchase, the purchase price, my commission and which of my links generated the purchase. No personal information about the customer is given to internet affiliates!!
Affiliate programs track purchases differently.
- In the case of many associate/affiliate programs, once you link to the retailer through an affiliate link, you can search, shop for and purchase any products you want there. The Associate’s commission will be based on all the products you place in your shopping cart and purchase during that session. You may also use the convenient fast-check-out buttons that allow you buy with one click.
- Some affiliate programs pay commissions only for the exact products in the affiliate links. Some pay for all products purchased in one “shopping session” or within a fixed length of time. It just depends on the retailer and their affiliate agreement.
Making a Living
While many bloggers fund their blogs through affiliate programs, many now make their living as internet affiliates. I, too, am trying to make a living as a writer, blogger, infoprenuer, internet affiliate or some combination thereof.
Should you use my links just because I am trying to make a living?
Not necessarily! That depends more on you than on me.
If my content benefits you in some way, you could repay me by using my links for your purchases when shopping at my retail associates.
If you enjoy reading my blogs and articles, or if you feel that we have become friends through blogging, you could do me the favor of making the extra click before you shop at one of my retail associates.
If you are one of my many friends and colleagues who call themselves an objectivist, I might point out that I am not asking for charity. If you enjoy any benefit or entertainment value from my blogs and articles, I have earned your commissions. That said, if you do not WANT to use my affiliate links, please don’t.
My affiliate links, if you do feel inclined to use them, are displayed on the side bars of my websites, and are listed at the top of this page.
I do appreciate it immensely! And I thank you wholeheartedly!!
Thank you again!
