Happy Festival Friday!!

This is one of the BEST Low Carb products I have ever tasted!
ChocoPerfection Chocolate Bars
Sinful chocolate… without the sin
This chocolate has totally hit the mark. It tastes great, has a creamy chocolate texture, and doesn’t have a bad aftertaste! This is chocolate! It is not “diet candy.”
And it is not full of maltitol. Anybody on a low carb diet who has turned to maltitol-sweetened products to satisfy their sweet tooth, will be well pleased with ChocoPerfection with no maltitol.
ChocoPerfection has recently come out with dark chocolate chips, made from the same delicious ChocoPerfection chocolate! I’m so excited. I have to pull out my copy of 500 Low-Carb Recipes, and make some chocolate chip cookies!
According to the Low Carb Specialties website:
The main sweetener in ChocoPerfection is oligofructose, which is a prebiotic fiber that provides unique benefits such as not affecting blood sugar levels, supporting weight loss, cleansing candida and strengthening the immune system.
Oligofructose, also known as inulin, is made from chickory root. Both oligofructose and the other sweetener, erythritol, are all-natural sweeteners, with a glycemic index of zero. They do not have a negative effect on blood sugar levels, and do not cause insulin surges.
The developer of ChocoPerfection, Mary Jo Kringas, lost 100+ lbs. eating unlimited ChocoPerfection as part of a low-carb, anti-candida eating program which included unlimited eggs, fish, meat, vegetables, poultry, and olive oil.
clipped from the Low Carb Specialties website
All in all, ChocoPerfection is pretty amazing stuff! Mary Jo Kringas said that she ate three or four of these chocolate bars every day while losing over 100 pounds, and eliminating her candida infection.
While I think these are great, they are a little expensive for my budget, so I don’t eat them everyday. To be honest, I wouldn’t eat them every day even if I had a million dollars. But at over $3.00 each, I for sure won’t be eating 3-4 a day.
There is s big dark chocolate trend right now, and the dark european chocolate is very good. I like the milk chocolate bars better than the dark. It’s just a personal preference. As always, you’re free to disagree…
Ingredients:
Dark Chocolate: dry cocoa solids 60%, oligofrutose, erythritol, cocoa butter, soy lecithin, natural flavors.
Milk Chocolate: dry cocoa solids 55%, oligofrutose, erythritol, cocoa butter, calcium carbonate, soy lecithin, natural flavors.
The labels also carry the following allergy warning: May contain traces of peanuts and other tree nuts.

I only know of one place to buy them individually: CarbSmart.com

Russel Stover
If you tolerate maltitol well, Russel Stover makes a great selection of sugar-free, low-carb chocolates.
My personal favorites are pecan turtles, coconut, and chocolate covered peanuts. I also like any other chocolates with nuts or caramel. I don’t favor mint (or fruit, for that matter!) in my chocolate, but their mint patties are nice if you like that sort of candy! They make a pretty nice peanut butter cup too, but I think it needs more peanut butter… for me it is a little heavy on the chocolate.
Another thing that is great about Russel Stover, since I tolerate maltitol well in small amounts, is that I can buy them at Wal Mart inexpensively.
Torani Sugar-Free Chocolate Syrup
This product is great for many things. It is sweetened with Splenda (sucralose), but not the consumer kind with the added bulking agent maltodextrin. I count it as less than 1 net carb per teaspoonful.
The way I use this chocolate syrup the most is to flavor drinks. It is great in coffee, especially iced coffee! Most of the time I use it in protein or meal-replacement drinks.
I have been replacing the protein powder in my drinks with raw eggs. I know a lot of people can’t or won’t eat raw eggs, but I just whisk up 2 eggs with 2 tbs of heavy cream, and then add sugar-free syrup: 1-2 tsp of chocolate, and 1 tsp of vanilla. yummy lunch!
Mo’s Bacon Bar
Vosges Chocolate
I reviewed Mo’s Bacon Bar on my Lovin’ It Low Carb Reviews blog.
This is not a low-carb food, but I tasted it and reviewed it because of the novelty. Bacon and chocolate! How cool is that… if it’s good.
Well, it was! Really good.
Since I wrote about it there, I won’t repeat it all here. If you are interested check it out there.
Last, but not least, I have a couple of videos for you…
Chocolate 101 From Tree to Treat
And for those of you, who (like me) favor molten chocolate or “lava” cake…
Baking 101 Molten Chocolate Cake
Have a great weekend.
I hope you get a chance to enjoy some chocolate… if you want some!!

Personally I find Russell Stover SF chocolate to be pretty darn nasty tasting. In fact every readily commercial sugar-free chocolate product I have tried tastes just plain nasty to me. Not to mention I can’t tolerate malitol (or xylitol) one little bit.
But I have to agree those Chocoperfection bars are pretty darn awesome. I don’t dare keep those suckers in the house, LOL.
Hi Debbie,
I know a lot of people really don’t care for the sugar-free chocolate they have had up until now.
I think the ChocoPerfection is a big step up from anything I’ve tasted before! But I’m sure there are plenty of people who don’t like it. I don’t think any one product is perfect for everyone.
Thanks for your comment!
Hi Ramona, I’ll have to try and find me some of that chocolate. I’m also low carbing and so far so good. I just posted a low carb chocolate mocha protein shake.
Hi Marisa! Your shake looks great. I love using cold coffee as ingredients in shakes and other cold drinks later. And vanilla makes anything taste better! I’ve never seen the ChocoPerfection in stores, but you can buy just one bar at CarbSmart.com. If you want to check out the Bacon Bar, I have seen them at Cost Plus Imports. I neglected to post links to online sources, but I added them after I got a comment on Facebook! Good luck with your low carbing!
Hi ramona,
Now you have me wanting to taste that Choco Perfection…aww man…lol
keep up the great work!
Hi Lisa!!
Thanks for your comment. I know that many companies do not ship outside the U.S.
Maybe we could get some free samples of this on next year’s cruise from one of the retailers like Andrew DiMino of CarbSmart… I bet everyone would love that.
I personally like Amber Lyn Chocolates… they have some of the best sugar free belgian chocolate I’ve ever tasted. It’s made with maltitol, but instead of maltitol derived from corn, theirs comes from wheat. Maltitol derived from wheat isn’t as harsh on your system as the corn stuff. Anyway… you should review Amber Lyn, unless you have a sensitivity to maltitol.
Thank you Chocolate Lover!! I’ll definitely check out Amber Lyn Chocolates!
Actually Andrew (from CarbSmart) has offered to ship stuff to me in Trinidad (since he now knows who I am ha ha ) However the port duties and customs charges
Over here Would kill me!! I will just have to place my order when next I am travelling
to the USA and may most probably need a separate suitcase just
For all the new goodies you keep recommending that I want to try lol.
Yes Andrew, please work your magic and get some Choco Perfection samples for
The 2011 Low Carb Cruise!!
I ordered the chocoperfection, and I enjoyed it…..but no one has mentioned they are very expensive, over 4 dollars per bar and 12 bars for 50 dollars with shipping and handling, it is reserved for a special treat, not cause of the carbs, but the price. I wish I could afford to eat them daily but, i will have to make the 5…I mean the four (lol) I accidently ate one already, last awhile.
