Interesting Article about circadian rhythms and meal timing, possibly of interest to Intermittant Fasters (IFers).
Feeding the Clock quoted from Newswise

A study by the Salk Institute of Biological Studies questions: Is the daily waxing and waning of thousands of genes in the liver mostly controlled by food intake or by the body’s circadian clock? According to this article, “WHEN we eat may be just as important as WHAT we eat” :
The Salk researchers’ findings, which will be published in a forthcoming issue of the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, could explain why shift workers are unusually prone to metabolic syndrome, diabetes, high cholesterol levels and obesity.

I worked shift work for many years off and on. They were absolutely miserable years. We’re talking rotating shifts that changed from week to week. I remember that time like I was on drugs or some active alcoholic. Fuzzy days, fuzzy nights. Never really awake, and never really asleep. Thanks for this link!
Wow, Rachel, it sounds dreadful! It sounds like that is well in the past, so I’m glad for that!! I don’t know how well I’d do on shift work, since I have multiple sleep disorders. Good sleep can be quite difficult for me even when I sleep regular hours. Luckily, I have always had very predictable 8-5ish hours M-F, with weekends off.
